Sunset views, champagne sprays & an unforgettable “Yes!”
There’s nothing quite like capturing the raw emotions of a surprise proposal—especially when it’s pulled off flawlessly with a backdrop as iconic as Cremorne Point. Steph & Rocco’s day was one for the books!
I first met Rocco through a past couple of mine, whose engagement I had the joy of photographing earlier. Rocco had big plans to propose to Steph and wanted the moment to be both memorable and beautifully captured. The plan? He told Steph they were heading to a friend’s boat party and they'd be hopping on at Cremorne Point. Little did she know what was really about to happen.
I arrived about 30 minutes early to scope out the perfect spot and set up my hidden camera to film the big moment. Cremorne Point can get busy and on this day, I had to (very politely) clear out 7 different groups from the lookout point to make sure we had the space to ourselves. It was a bit of a mission, but so worth it.
Then came the message from Rocco—he was walking down with Steph.
As soon as I saw them approaching, I got into position and started getting the camera ready. Just as I was adjusting the filming setup, Rocco dropped to one knee without warning. I rushed into place, camera in hand and captured the moment she said yes! The look on Steph’s face said it all—total surprise, pure happiness and so much love.
After the proposal, we celebrated with a champagne spray (which I always bring for my couples—because why not go all out?) and strolled along Cremorne Point for some relaxed, candid portraits. The light was beautiful and the vibes were just perfect.
To wrap it up, we made a quick detour to Mary Booth Lookout Reserve. As luck would have it, another proposal setup was being prepared there. With a friendly chat and quick coordination, we managed to sneak in a few dreamy shots using their floral arch and setup—shoutout to the couple for letting us jump in!
And just when we thought the day couldn’t get more memorable—Steph had a hilarious run-in with some very bold bush turkeys. Let’s just say they weren’t camera shy... and it made for the funniest ending to an already incredible shoot. 😄
It was such an honour to be part of this beautiful chapter in Steph & Rocco’s story. From surprise to celebration (and bush turkey drama), these are the kinds of moments I live to capture.
