There’s something so magical about photographing couples in places that hold deep personal meaning—and Esther & Joseph’s engagement shoot at La Perouse was exactly that kind of special.
Back in May, this iconic coastal spot in Sydney’s southeast was where Joseph got down on one knee and popped the big question. While the proposal day was a little less than ideal weather-wise—cloudy, rainy, and windy—you could still feel the love. So when Esther & Joseph reached out about doing their engagement photos at La Perouse, I was all in. It was a chance to bring that full-circle moment to life, this time with perfect weather and all the sunshine Sydney could offer.
A Sentimental Location with Picture-Perfect Weather
We couldn’t have asked for a better day—clear skies, warm sun, and a soft coastal breeze. The golden light bouncing off the cliffs and water made everything feel vibrant and dreamy. It’s no wonder La Perouse is one of Sydney’s most loved engagement photography locations.
We kicked things off near the historic La Perouse Tower, tucking into the shade just behind it to get some softer portraits and ease into the session. Esther & Joseph’s chemistry was effortless, and I could immediately see why this spot meant so much to them.
From the Tower to the Iconic Bridge
After a few frames near the tower, we made our way towards the footbridge that connects the mainland to Bare Island—a location that always delivers with its scenic views, sandstone textures, and cinematic feel. The light at this time of day was glowing just right, giving us those golden-hour tones without needing to wait for sunset.
Throughout the shoot, one of the main focuses was to show off their beautiful rings. Esther & Joseph wanted to celebrate their engagement with photos that highlighted the details—and I made sure their hands and those sparkling rings were front and centre in a few key moments.
